Trickledown 3

Howdy all. Trickledown 3 was fun and went down a treat, although for various reasons including a family event and a broken bass m j law 3 became m j law 1. I played "Riversong", "Another Victory", "The One That Got Away","Ocean" which is a Sebadoh song by Lou Barlow, "Something Beautiful" and "Hey Jenny". I'm just finishing off a new demo which will be a wee bit different to "Disenchanted...". The tracklisting is "Yes! Iam Feeling Sinister", "Leben ist Schoen" (which features Gabi Brooks), "Desperate Celebrities", "Another Victory" and "These Games U Play". More soon. Bis spaeter m.

Last night at Bartok

Hey all. Last night went exceptionally well, big thakyou to all who came, and to Eddie and Martin who made it happen. I was the headline act which was cool, screen 3 also played and a guy called James but I've forgotten his surname which is a real shame as he was seriously talented. The venue was amazing too. I played: 1) Sam Said, 2) SOS, 3) Sparks Fly, 4) a new song as yet untitled, 5) What's Going On, 6) Hey Jenny. It went well!

Supporting screen3 09/03/05 + back in the studio + demo release

Howdy all. I'm playing a wee gig on Wednesday, 9th March at Bartok in Camden, starting at about 9pm I think. It's free so come on over. I'm supporting screen3, who provided hip-hop beats and melodica at Trickledown 2. Also, I'm in the studio right now, working on some of my own stuff, but also I've just produced a four-track demo for an acoustic duo called Chain of Fools, who are proper. It's seriously good. Two originals, a cover of 'Free Fallin' by Tom Petty, and a cover of 'Good Riddance' by Green Day, which they even let me play a mandolin solo on. Awww. bless. So yeah, also I have a demo, of which I'll be giving away copies on wednesday. It's called "Peek Inside... The Disenchanted World of m j law", and the tracklisting runs 1) Hey Jenny, 2) Sparks Fly, 3) The One That Got Away, and 4) Restless. It's all written, performed and produced by yours truly, and people who have heard it so far say it's ok. And I asked some pretty critical people. Anyhow, as Monty Burns said "I bring you peace!" Trickledown-Collab-Compressor 31st July 2004

Well, the night's over and was a hugely enjoyable event. My wee set seemed to go down pretty well, at least nobody came up to me to ask if I knew "The Irish Rover" this time and then tell me I was rubbish when I said I didn't as happened at my one gig in Yeovil. All in all pretty encouraging. A big thankyou to all those who came along and especially to Paul, Adam, Rich and Rory for making it happen...

For those interested, the setlist was 1) Hey Jenny, 2) Breaking the Rules, 3)Lights and 4)SOS

ABOUT

After playing since 1994 in a number of bands, most recently Endora is Yummy with Phil Stiles (now of The Final Coil/ Fudulike), Mr Law started a solo project, initially under the name Kid Vinyl, then Jasper Gold FM, before lately coming clean about his real name. He is influenced by artists such as Lou Barlow, The Delgados, Lemonheads, Rudy Trouve, Gemma Hayes, Kate Rusby, REM, John Martyn and Elliott Smith amongs others. When not being a singing sensation (so most of the time then) he produces for Rory Nunn, builds a vast web empire (www.kidvinyl.co.uk), and is an archaeologist with an unhealthy interest in human bones.
